Slope Day Weekend
Slope day weekend this year was fun filled with lots of eating, drinking, and hanging out with friends. Jordan and Itay came up along with the girls and Vincent. The rest of them stayed at the Hillside Inn whereas Jordan and Itay stayed at my apartment.
Jordan came up Wednesday afternoon on the Cornell bus, and immediately after I picked him up at the bus stop we went to Kyushu for dinner. We timed how long it took for the food to come out -- 7 minutes, including the soup and salad you get beforehand. Crazy but good. Afterwards we went to the mall but I'm not sure what exactly we did there. We didn't stay for too long, and then went back to my apartment to wait for Itay to arrive.
Thursday we had lunch at Indian buffet again and it was delicious as usual. Jordan then got a haircut at the Salon / Sake Bar place on Eddy street, while Itay and I waited on the couch there. We then went to the mall again I think, just for a bit, and then Jordan met his old professor on campus while Itay and I rested. Dinner was at Taughannock Farms Inn and we had a 25% off coupon which made it even better. I had filet mignon, melted brie with fruit compote, house salad, and the peppermint ice cream roulade for dessert. All very good. At night we went back to my apartment and caught up on some TV, then went to bed to get ready for slope day.
Woke up early on Friday to go the liquor store to get some things to bring to the Hillside Inn. We all hung out for a few hours and then went to the slope around 1pm. It was still empty but that was good because there were no lines for beer or food. The beer line was fun as usual because everybody is cheering you on as you walk through the winding path. The food was also good - I had a jerk chicken sandwich. We stayed on the slope until a little after 4pm and then went to CTB before going back to my apartment to nap. We ended up sleeping longer than expected so we went to C-town around 10pm to get some sushi to go. However there was a car in my parking spot so Itay called the police and we got the guy ticketed. Sushi was good, I tried tuna and avocado roll and it was pretty good, I would definitely have it again. We also got a call at 3am saying that Jessie and Malaty were handcuffed and arrested in collegetown for open container drinking and being belligerent.
Saturday was a mostly relaxing day as Itay went on a wine tour with all the others, and Jordan and I went to the library to study / do work. I actually got a lot done there. We had lunch at the Pines (although I didn't have a burger -- I had a chicken sandwich instead), and then dinner later on at Thai Cuisine where I had the usual pineapple fried rice. We played Mario Kart at night and watched some more TV I think.
Sunday we had brunch at Carriage House Cafe, but they didn't have any french toast left whatsoever. So I had eggs and home fries which were actually very good. Itay left after that, and then Jordan and I went to the mall to get an ipod charger, and then we did work at my apartment for a bit, had dinner at Just a Taste, and then did more studying at the library for a good 3-4 hours at least. We then caught up on some more TV, went to sleep, and woke up early to get to the bus station in time.
All in all, another great slope day weekend! Now it is back to work for me for a few weeks, until I come home to NYC and get ready for my summer trip to Albuquerque.
