Slope Day Weekend

Slope day weekend this year was fun filled with lots of eating, drinking, and hanging out with friends. Jordan and Itay came up along with the girls and Vincent. The rest of them stayed at the Hillside Inn whereas Jordan and Itay stayed at my apartment.

Jordan came up Wednesday afternoon on the Cornell bus, and immediately after I picked him up at the bus stop we went to Kyushu for dinner. We timed how long it took for the food to come out -- 7 minutes, including the soup and salad you get beforehand. Crazy but good. Afterwards we went to the mall but I'm not sure what exactly we did there. We didn't stay for too long, and then went back to my apartment to wait for Itay to arrive.

Thursday we had lunch at Indian buffet again and it was delicious as usual. Jordan then got a haircut at the Salon / Sake Bar place on Eddy street, while Itay and I waited on the couch there. We then went to the mall again I think, just for a bit, and then Jordan met his old professor on campus while Itay and I rested. Dinner was at Taughannock Farms Inn and we had a 25% off coupon which made it even better. I had filet mignon, melted brie with fruit compote, house salad, and the peppermint ice cream roulade for dessert. All very good. At night we went back to my apartment and caught up on some TV, then went to bed to get ready for slope day.

Woke up early on Friday to go the liquor store to get some things to bring to the Hillside Inn. We all hung out for a few hours and then went to the slope around 1pm. It was still empty but that was good because there were no lines for beer or food. The beer line was fun as usual because everybody is cheering you on as you walk through the winding path. The food was also good - I had a jerk chicken sandwich. We stayed on the slope until a little after 4pm and then went to CTB before going back to my apartment to nap. We ended up sleeping longer than expected so we went to C-town around 10pm to get some sushi to go. However there was a car in my parking spot so Itay called the police and we got the guy ticketed. Sushi was good, I tried tuna and avocado roll and it was pretty good, I would definitely have it again. We also got a call at 3am saying that Jessie and Malaty were handcuffed and arrested in collegetown for open container drinking and being belligerent.

Saturday was a mostly relaxing day as Itay went on a wine tour with all the others, and Jordan and I went to the library to study / do work. I actually got a lot done there. We had lunch at the Pines (although I didn't have a burger -- I had a chicken sandwich instead), and then dinner later on at Thai Cuisine where I had the usual pineapple fried rice. We played Mario Kart at night and watched some more TV I think.

Sunday we had brunch at Carriage House Cafe, but they didn't have any french toast left whatsoever. So I had eggs and home fries which were actually very good. Itay left after that, and then Jordan and I went to the mall to get an ipod charger, and then we did work at my apartment for a bit, had dinner at Just a Taste, and then did more studying at the library for a good 3-4 hours at least. We then caught up on some more TV, went to sleep, and woke up early to get to the bus station in time.

All in all, another great slope day weekend! Now it is back to work for me for a few weeks, until I come home to NYC and get ready for my summer trip to Albuquerque.

Slope Day...finally

Alright, it's been almost 2 months since slope day, but I will try to recall as much of this as possible. Let me preface the story by saying that I was sick and that I tried to recover by the time the day actually came but it didn't work out too well (but not too bad either).

WEDNESDAY
- I believe I went to dinner with Vincent and Jordan at Ling Ling. I remember because I wanted tea to soothe my aching throat. The food there is really good and it's probably my favorite chinese food in Ithaca. I also like Hai Hong in collegetown.
- Probably went to sleep early to try and combat my sickness

THURSDAY
- Kathya arrived via plane at about 2:45pm, but unfortunately I was at class with Andreas until 4:00pm. So she said she would just wait at the airport and hang out until I got out of class. When I got out of class, I called Jordan and he came with me to the airport. On the way back we decided to go to the campus store since they were having a 1 day customer appreciation sale. I don't think I bought anything but maybe Kathya did?
- Not sure what we did after that. Oh, I remember now. We went to dinner at Aladdin's with Jordan, Itay, and Marilyn. I think it was just the 5 of us. I was happy since the last time I was there was during passover and I couldn't eat any of the pasta. Of course the food was great.
- My bowling got moved back to 8:30 pm or something like that so I believe I went to the liquor store right after dinner to get some stuff for slope day. The idea was to get one of those big buckets that you mix with a big thing of rum/vodka. So I bought the rum and some prosecco. Then I picked up Colin and went to bowling.
- By this time I was feeling really sick because I was out and about the whole day, but I persisted on. After bowling we went to Wegmans to look for buckets (unsuccessfully) but we did manage to get some fruit. Well, we did have a bucket but it was for vodka, so Jordan gave us the vodka to use. Then I was tired so we went back to my place and made the mix, put it in my freezer to be ready for transport in the morning.
- Meanwhile Joey arrived and stayed with a friend in c-town. He also brought his roommate Jon with him.

FRIDAY
- I unfortunately had to go to class at 9am so I woke Kathya up and we got ready with the alcohol and transported it to Jordan and Itay's apartment where we put it in the freezer. Then Kathya got in bed with Jordan as usual and I went to class.
- While I was at class, they got ready eventually and all met up at CTB for breakfast. I told Kathya to get me a bagel with cream cheese which I later ate and was delicious.
- After class, we went to their apartment and drank a bit from these big gigantic glasses that you have probably seen pictures of on Facebook. Everything was good for the most part and eventually we made it to the slope. There was free ice cream when we got there so I ate that immediately. Once we got onto the actual slope we picked an area to stay near and rarely deviated from that location, i.e. we were not very mobile that day. I got some beer tickets and once again on the beer line they were giving out bagels so I ate them all.
- Nothing too exciting happened on the slope. We ate some food here and there, lounged around, and took lots of pictures. Afterwards we walked back to ctown and I think spent some time in Jordan's bed until we were ready to drive home and nap.
- Napped for a while and then back to ctown to eat dinner at Plum Tree. It actually sucked and we sent back a lot of the food. Very disappointing.
- After that we went to the Palms for a bit and then CTB. I had some chai and I believe Jordan met us there for a while. Then we drove back to my apartment and I guess went to sleep?

SATURDAY
- Woke up and had brunch at Ruloff's. Not my favorite place in the world because the food is always cold but it's good enough I guess. It was me, Kathya, her friend, Itay, Jordan, Joey, Jon, Adam, and maybe some other people.
- After brunch I think we went to Treman State park down route 13 past Home Depot. We walked around for a while and took some pictures. It was actually really nice there. (I had never been there before)
- We then went to Purity for ice cream which was delicious. Then I dropped Joey and Adam off in collegetown and then Jon, Kathya, and I went back to my apartment. We played Wii for a while and then went to dinner at Kyushu which was really good and quick, lol. We came back to my apartment again and were planning on seeing a movie, but we ended up all falling asleep on my couch.

SUNDAY
- Woke up and Jon left when we took him to the bus stop, and then the rest of us went to RPU to eat brunch. I don't really remember this but I'm sure it was good.
- We walked around north campus for a while and I think we might have even went to Cortland to play Mini golf! The mini-golf there is really fun and cheap.
- At some point we dropped Kathya off at the airport and she flew home.
- Don't remember what we did that night. Joey probably left at some point but I don't remember anything. I'm lucky I remembered this much!
